KENT BURLES is an illustrator whose love of the comic and fantasy genres led him into the comic and role-playing game industries. He worked with Malibu Comics on creating a series of Planet of the Apes comic books, as well as a series called The Adventurers. He has also worked on many role playing games by Fasa, Steve Jackson, White Wolf, and recently on Anvil Galaxy and Rifts for Palladium Books. Kent is a Max the Muttâs Coordinator for the Illustration & Storytelling for Sequential Arts Diploma Program.
GREG BEETTAM is a veteran Comic Book/ Graphic Novel artist, freelance Illustrator, Graphic Designer, Writer and Visual Storytelling Expert, with 20+ years experience. Greg co-wrote a comic called Xenoâs Arrow with Stephen Geigen-Miller. In addition to his work in comics, graphic novels and cartooning, he has worked in advertising as a concept artist, specializing in storyboards, story development, script-writing, and presentation design. Greg has been a integral part in the planning, and shares the Coordinator position, for our new Illustration & Storytelling for Sequential Arts 4 year Diploma Program. He is a valuable member of the MTM faculty family.
STEVE MILLARD started his career in animation working for Walt Disney Canada on such projects as âBeauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmasâ, and âPeter Pan: Return to Neverlandâ. He has also worked as a character designer for Nelvana and 9 Story Animation. As a fine artist, he has exhibited drawings and paintings in Oakville and Toronto. Steve was a Featured Published Artist in âSpectrum 24: The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Artâ by Flesk Publications and was an Exhibiting Artist for âThe Colour and Form Society: 25th Annual Juried Showâ in Etobicoke, Ontario. Steve has been a valuable member of the MTM faculty family, since 2008, teaching advanced courses for all 3 of our Diploma Programs.
JOSHUA PINKER is a 2D animation artist. He is originally from New Jersey but currently living in Toronto, Canada. Josh has been working in the animation industry since 2014. Since then, he has worked on over 15 animated series. Josh has worked on well known cartoon productions for tv and web. In 2019 he self published a book titled âYour Animated Journeyâ which is a self help guide for artists looking to work in the animation industry. In 2022 he was chosen to be an ambassador for Toon Boomâs brand. Currently he is working as a supervisor on a new upcoming Nickelodeon series. When Josh is not on the computer you can find him playing video games, travelling, playing sports or hanging out with his two cats. Some of the projects heâs worked on are, True and the Rainbow Kingdom, Justin Time Go!, and Disneyâs Pixie Hollow Bake Off. Heâs particularly proud of Thomas and Friendsâ âTale of the Braveâ, where he had the pleasure of animating the âMonsters Everywhereâ sequence. In his spare time he enjoys creating comics, music and even more cartoons. He has been enjoying his experience teaching for our Classical & Computer Animation & Production and Concept Art Programs at MTM.
ALAN HOWELL has worked as an illustrator and designer, comic book artist, and caricaturist. Alan is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art. He has many years of experience as an Illustrator. His work appears in numerous book illustrations for Alexander Press and other publishing companies. He works in traditional and digital materials. Alan is an important member of Max the Muttâs Illustration & Storytelling for Sequential Arts and Concept Art programâs faculty.
SCOTT CAMERON has been an illustrator since he graduated from Ontario College of Art in 1984. He was a background painter for Disney Canada. As an illustrator he has numerous credits including magazine covers and childrenâs books. He was nominated for a Governor Generalâs Award for Illustration for his work on Beethoven Lives Upstairs. Scott has been a valuable member of MTMâs faculty family who has taught courses for all of our Diploma Programs.
Dave Ross graduated from the Animation Program at Sheridan College, Canada. After university - he found a more challenging niche pursuing an early interest in drawing and animation. Encouraged by mentors and seasoned professionals within the industry, he enjoys working in storyboarding, character design, composition and layout in animation as well as storyboarding for live action film. As he says: "I can't resist the challenge of rendering strange new worlds and fantastic situations on a daily basis --- filling stark white panels with scenes rich in depth and intensity! As a Guest Artist, Dave Ross has participated at numerous national and international comic conventions and book signings.
Megan Kearney is a Toronto based cartoonist, writer and educator. She holds a BA in Visual Arts and an English minor from the University of Windsor, and an Honours degree in animation from Sheridan College. Megan teaches the fundamentals of cartooning and intermediate to advanced level character design in the sequential and animation departments, as well as illustration for children's books. Megan has worked with animation studios such as Noitamin, JibJab and Sinking Ship, and on properties such as Disney Princess and Scholastic's Making Friends series. She writes and illustrates graphic novels for a number of publishers including Harper Collins, Epic!, Dark Horse, and First Second, many of which have appeared on reading lists and have earned Kirkus-starred reviews. Her graphic novel, Swan Lake: Quest for the Kingdoms, with Rey Terciero, is current in development for film with PARAMOUNT animation.
Gregory Furmanczyk, born in Papineau County, Quebec, is a Portrait Painter who has painted many institutional, corporate, and private portrait commissions which hang in prominent locations such as the House of Commons/Parliament Hill and the Federal Courts in Ottawa; the Ontario Legislature and Osgoode Hall in Toronto; and, include official portraits of Chairmen of the Bank of Montreal and of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Governors of the Bank of Canada, as well as Presidents of Universities; these works extend to cultural portraits such as the Director of the Shaw Festival at Niagara-on-the-Lake; as well as, ecclesiastical portraits located in the official residences of the Archbishops of Ottawa, Toronto, and Hamilton, in the International Headquarters of the Salvation Army, and in Divinity Colleges across Canada.
Jong Ho Kim is a seasoned 3D artist with over a decade of experience, having worked with many of Canadaâs leading animation studios, including Jam Filled, Mainframe, and Pipeline Studios. Specializing as a 3D Modeler, Generalist, and Shot Finaling Artist, Jong Ho has contributed to a wide range of projects, including Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie, Unicorn Academy, and Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed. In addition to his creative roles, he has also served as a department supervisor and senior artist, where he mentored junior artists, ensuring high-quality, professional results while fostering a motivating and supportive environment. Jong Ho joined the MTM faculty team in early 2024 and currently teaches Lighting and Compositing for Animation as well as Introduction to 3D Concepts.
Graduated from Sheridan College Computer Animation program. 20 + years experience in 3D industry. Worked for CG, VFX and GAME companies. Jesse teaches AP4 Advanced Rigging at MTM College and has worked for Digital Extremes, Warframe Dneg, Fast and Furious, Lord of the Ring TV show, Mr.X, Spiderman, Pompeii 2015
