OBSERVATIONAL DRAWING :
Students will learn the skills related to contour, value, proportion, composition, and space. By workshops end, they will be able to lay out a drawing using sighting techniques to create object relationships which relate convincingly to what is being observed.
FIGURE DRAWING & CONSTRUCTION:
Drawing the body doesn’t need to be hard! Learn the shapes and proportions of the human body to properly pose and construct them from your imagination through these studies.
DRAWING DRAPERY AND FOLDS:
Students will learn the many variations of folds and how they interact with different articles of clothing and the human body.
PERSPECTIVE FOR THE ARTISTS:
Learn 1 & 2-point perspective fundamentals from a comic industry veteran. Students will be able to plant figures and buildings accurately on planes and in relation to each other.
With a wealth of teaching experience that spans over two decades and a background in the animation industry, Steve is dedicated to providing top-tier visual art and drawing instruction.
In the animation industry, he produced work for diverse clients, including P.B.S, YTV, and the Warner Brothers Network, while employed at Nelvana Animation and 9 Story Entertainment. He also worked on the feature films “Beauty and The Beast : The Enchanted Christmas”, and “Peter Pan : Return to Neverland” as part of the Animation Department at Walt Disney Animation Canada.
In 2017, his sculpture work was chosen to be showcased by the juried publication annual “Spectrum 24: The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art”
Dave Ross will guide you through his journey in the industry and the dynamic world of storytelling in comics.
As a seasoned educator, he has taught illustration, constructive figure drawing, and structural design at MTM College, where his hands-on approach helps artists build solid foundations in storytelling and draftsmanship.
During this workshop, step into the world of cinematic storytelling and high-energy action scenes with this Industry veteran Legendary Comic Artist who has spent decades illustrating for top-tier publishers like Marvel, Dark Horse and DC Comics, bringing characters like Spider-Man, Batman, and X-Men to life.
With several decades of experience in commercial art, comics : Planet of the Apes, Dr. Giggles, and Role Playing Games for companies such as Iron Crown, FASA, Palladium, Green Ronin and Steve Jackson, Kent has created new worlds of characters and environments throughout his career. Coupling that with almost two decades of instruction at MTM, Kent has the background and tools to inspire students in the worlds of perspective and world building.
